Running from Mexico to Canada through California, Oregon and Washington, the 2665 mile PCT meanders from the SoCal desert to the Alpine Mountains in Yosemite to the rainy forests in the North Cascades. We're attempting to thru-hike the PCT during the small window of time that the entire trail is typically passable from May-October. Though a seemingly huge undertaking and perhaps a bit out of the ordinary, it's just walking after all.

Two nights ago we camped in a boulder field at around 6000 ft. It was probably one of the best sites we have had so far. It was immediately after a water cache (a place where a trail angel dropped off 50 or so 2.5 gallon water jugs because there was little natural water) and up a steep mountain. We were surrounded by 15+ ft boulders and and a 270 degree view of the mountains we had climbed over the past few days. We made it in time to do a hikers sponge bath (this gets rid of 1/4 of the smell) and then eat dinner in as we watched the sunset. This was one of he most picturesque scenes we have been in and it was just labeled as another boulder field in the desert.
